The PCI Security Standards Council has made it easier for businesses to stay compliant with the release of updated Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) for PCI DSS v4.0.1. These updated questionnaires are designed to help eligible merchants and service providers perform their PCI DSS self-assessments and make sure they’re meeting the latest security standards.
What’s new?
The changes include aligning the SAQs with PCI DSS v4.0.1, clarifying who can use certain SAQs (like A, A-EP, and C-VT), and updating specific requirements, such as adding one to SAQ A and removing one from SAQ C. Additionally, the guidance on how to complete SAQs A and A-EP has been refreshed to be more user-friendly. Each SAQ has a Document Changes table at the start, so you can quickly see what’s been updated. You can easily access all documents here at the PCI Library.
Before starting your self-assessment, make sure your business qualifies for the SAQ you’re using. It’s also a good idea to check with your processor(s)/service providers you’ll be submitting the SAQ to, to ensure you’re meeting all their requirements.
If you’re using the older SAQs for PCI DSS v4.0, don’t worry—they’ll still be valid until December 31, 2024, after which they’ll be phased out.
